Mas Arte Mas Accion

The term Más Arte Más Acción encapsulates our mission; to generate art projects that motivate change and action. Our work explores challenging social and environmental issues, often involving educational projects with people from communities silenced by lack of opportunity.

Working with our partners and the media we stimulate cultural exchange and dialogue to strengthen contemporary arts practice in Colombia and now plan to reach further into the Global South by extending our programme in association with new partners in Latin America, Africa and Asia. We also aim to stimulate our partners around the world by showcasing creative thinking in relation to these challenges.  The projects we initiate are grains of sand, catalysts for creative thinking and a re-evaluation of dogmas,  leading to change.

Our vision for the future is grounded in our achievements over the past ten years, working on projects along Colombia's remote Chocó rainforest on the Pacific coast.  This gives us a solid base from which to consolidate our programme and enable participants and audiences an opportunity to explore the kinds of issues that confront the region's inhabitants - and to apply these experiences globally.

Más Arte Más Acción plans to connect with partners on a local, national and international scale, placing the organisation firmly in the consciousness of the wider arts world.  Through these connections we will engage with and build relationships with artists, audiences and communities who share in our vision.

Chocó Base

In 2011 Arts Collaboratory awarded funds to create a physical Base for future projects, to extend the foundation's footprint, and develop its programme internationally.

The Chocó Base, designed by Dutch Artist Joep Van Lieshout, was completed in 2011. It is used as a real and virtual platform for a series of articulated projects that will take place in Chocó and in association with South American, African and Asian partners between 2012 and 2016. The Base offers participants an opportunity to stay in this extraordinary location, to reflect on pressing concerns and to share knowledge with the region's communities.
