Coaching for Development (C4D) is a not-for-profit project that seeks to
empower society within the developing countries with modern
cross-cultural knowledge in the field of project management. C4D want to
bring project management knowledge and deliver aid to social
entrepreneurs that help people affected by poverty, violence,
malnutrition, diseases, war, or any other issues that are not
sufficiently tackled by the local governments.
Our project was created in 2009 by an international team of motivated
young project management professionals. The first Coaching for
Development on site workshop will take place in Nepal (September 22 –
October 1, 2010).
Coaching for Development is a not-for-profit project that seeks to bring project management knowledge to developing countries. The project was initiated in 2009 by an international team of young people within the International Project Management Association (IPMA), the oldest international association of project management (PM) professionals, with 50 national member associations from Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Coaching for Development is currently run by the core team consisting of 14 young professionals with different backgrounds, united by their interest for project management, development issues and social work.
C4D mission is to empower society within the developing countries with modern cross-cultural knowledge in the field of project management, by means of developing competencies and creating networking opportunities.
C4D vision is a world where projects in developing countries have unlimited opportunities for growth, success and co-creation of value for their societies.
To fulfill its mission, Coaching for
Development aims to prepare and conduct on site workshops and
activities in selected developing countries. C4D will host their first
even in Nepal in fall 2010.
Project managers from all over the world will meet in Nepal to coach a
group of PM enthusiasts from several projects, to share experiences and
information and create networking opportunities for all participants.
On site workshops are the highlight of the project. They will last
10-14 days and consist of knowledge-sharing, training and networking of
Coaching for Development team members and local participants. The
participants will be selected several months in advance and coached to
prepare for the workshop. Although the workshop is the main intensive
phase of the project, Coaching for Development team members will stay
in touch with local participants and continue to exchange knowledge
with them on a regular basis.
For the aims of the project coaching is understood as supporting
mutually beneficial knowledge exchange, facilitating networking and
giving feedback with the goal to bring new perspectives and
cross-cultural understanding to projects and their teams.
In addition to the on-site activities, Coaching for Development team
members conduct, facilitate and participate in smaller events, for
example, workshops, seminars, trainings, conferences with the goal to
improve their skills and raise awareness of the project.
