EyeOverFishing reveals the story behind overfishing in the seas of the UK. It shows how the fishing industry, UK and EU policy-makers, and consumers help damage the ocean ecosystem - and explains how these groups can play a role in restoring it.
EyeOverFishing is a web-based resource that collects the varied and complex problems with the UK fisheries into one place, to make it easier for people to find ways of solving them.
Background
The project was founded by Justin Buckley over two years ago. Many of the environmental and social problems facing people are difficult to solve partly because they are difficult to see. The damage to ocean ecosystems is hidden away under the ocean, and the workings of fisheries policy is abstract and complex. Graphic design is well placed to help overcome this, and this was the point of departure for the EyeOverFishing project.
