The Pursuit of Happiness is a curatorial project that promotes the practice of artists interested in events and actions connected to a phenomenon of happiness. Through presenting their work the project aspires to explore the complex contemporary global idea of happiness and its pursuit. As the Project develops it extends into a network of collaborators including curators, artists and writers.

The project was initiated by two young artists and curators Zbigniew Kotkiewicz and Tekla Wozniak in 2008.

"We solicited work from a diverse range of over 30 artists, with the aim of gathering a group of individuals of various origins; mainly those living and working in the UK."

As a consequence of the range of artworks and proposals submitted 'The Pursuit of Happiness' consists of a variety of political, sociological, psychological and personal responses. These have inspired them to form the idea of mutually pervading sections within which the individual works are placed. These sections form the core of both the forthcoming exhibition and coinciding publication. The core’s shape reminds them of a wave or a stream and as such it is a visualisation of the concept of 'The Pursuit of Happiness'. 

This project developed as a direct response to and is strongly influenced by the "artists proposals."

Those along with writings submitted for the publication will enable 'The Pursuit of Happiness' Project to evolve as an organic and subversive form. As such this proposes an experimentation in the approach to curating and exhibiting as a medium in general. The Project aims to get various people involved and inspire them to be creative and active.

As an ongoing 'The Pursuit of Happiness' Project we intend to organize many events such as exhibitions, performances and workshops, at various locations. 

At its current stage of development the Project exists as NetGallery and is actively loooking for an exhibition space.
