The homelessness problem in urban environment is still one of the most known and controversial image of misery in our society. We could fill pages and pages talking about the ins and the outs of this issue. But it will not change the fact that they are human beings who are in a deplorable situation that they did not choose in general. With this project, Romain Parvillers tried to find how fashion design can resolve a social problem.

Misery in our rich countries is used to be shift as a faraway matter, belonging to the third world. But it remains a huge difference between misery and poverty. And poverty is not only about the lack of money.
Because in our economic system money has seized the idea of development we think that to be in poverty is to be miserable.

The large majority of homeless are alone, without family, without friends, they are already in the lower class of our society and they endure violence, thefts, rapes, disdainful gaze, and are considered as rubbish of the society.

It is obvious that he can not remove the problem if however possible. But by the means of design it is possible to proffer them a little bit of comfort.

The first step consists in finding adapted garments to the life in urban environment.
After some chat with different homeless Romain Parvillers has started to make textile research and different ways to put them together in garments.

The next step is to find a way to bring it to the street. If possible in a different way that the ones currently in position, which he considers as assistantship.
Moreover the fact to distribute goods is temporary. For the street more than anywhere else things degrade faster.
It is also fairly expensive to produce those garments if we want them to be good quality and durable.

So Romain Parvillers aim is to give people the foundation tools to make it themselves.
Thus it is possible to produce it when needed. And it is also something else to do things by yourself than to be given.
Leaflet are easily made, printed or copied. And a digital copy is always accessible on the internet.

Further step will be to organize workshops with involved people, homeless and not.
To improve the current work and work out some problems which are not already solved.
It is as well bringing some solidarity and sharing around a useful project.
This one which could go further and deeply than some "humanitarian" instances in place as the samu social (social emergencies) which forget that homeless is more than statistics.
