Warriors Without Weapons is a program for young social entrepreneurs, who believe We Can Change the World. We are willing to do it, and we are willing to start right now!
The program takes place every two years in Santos, Brazil. It brings around 60 youths every time, from all over the world. For 30 days those guys are immersed in a methodology that supports them to get to know what are the dreams of the communities they are working in. Getting to know the dream is the start point to a cooperative, collective design of a public space that receives and embraces the dreams presented by the community. The space is actually built by the entrepreneurs together with the community inhabitants and whoever wants to take part on it.
At the end of the month the result is a square or a playground built, motivated people willing to renovate he neighborhood and youth entrepreneur eager to go back to their own place and start all over again.
This project is relevant to a discourse on Social Design not only because it considers the impact of physical spaces on the relationships among human beings, but it also considers the posit impact of intervening on such spaces, and offers tools to do so. This program considers every citizen a social designer.
