The SEgroup facilitated the generating of new knowledge and ideas on
the Chongming project, fostering discussions amongst the participants
and providing training on social systems theory and tools on exploring
social systems. Steering the workshop to correspond with the initiative
of the Chongming Project, participants were ask to brainstorm and
present definitions of what a village is and can be. To develop the
project’s strategy in taking it to the next level the perspectives of
business, government and consumerism in addition to the village
residents were emphasized and considered. The Stakeholders analysis and
their interests in the Project will serve as a framework for future
study.
The successful workshop proved the SEgroup to be an effective and
leading think tank on an international level. This project will
continue to support the rural communities in fostering everyday
sustainability by establishing links to an urban and rural network of
social and economic exchange.
