Project-ImageProject-ImageProject-Image

Yarn bombing.com is a blog that focuses on knit and crochet graffiti. By challenging traditional notions of art, craft, and handiwork; textile graffiti is political, charming, and smart. They aim to unite knit and crochet graffiti artists from around the globe by showing off their work and provided a forum where they can trade tricks and ideas on how to further the warmest art form we know. They strive to improve the urban landscape one stitch at a time.

Yarn bombing is written by Leanne Prain and Mandy Moore, two knitters who live in Vancouver, Canada. This blog came about by their research into knit graffiti artists as they wrote their book Yarn Bombing, a definitive guide to the knit and crochet graffiti. Yarn bombing defies the conventions of yarn and crochet being cherished objects. Knitting and crochet placed in urban places like graffiti challenges social conventions of what art and street art should be. It shows that yarn can be used to communicate just effectively as stickers, spray paint and wheat paste. They hope you'll join them on their quest for world yarn domination!
