While social responsibility is being discussed more frequently within the Visual Communications industry and among educators today, few resources currently exist to aid the implementation of these concepts into the higher education curriculum. Where social responsibility is vacant in a Visual Communications program, and little or no administrative support is available, it is often left to individual instructors to decide how best to integrate this topic into their syllabi.
Research has shown that many of today's educators agree that social responsibility has a definite place in the Visual Communications classroom. Research has also indicated that, regardless of whether or not the college or university has included a socially responsible element into the core curriculum or supports bringing it into the classroom, it is in general the vision and actions of the individual instructor that are implemented within their particular classroom.
In a responsive effort to the current design educator's desire to integrate socially conscience themes into their coursework, the online resource CreativeForACause.org, aims to provide access to a wealth of information and resources on this topic.
