Ecocathedral
Project-ImageProject-ImageProject-Image

An ecocathedral is made with used bricks and tiles, and with free human energy. It is an endless process in time and space. The start of the first ecocathedral is build by Louis Le Roy in Mildam (The Netherlands) in the 70s, and people still work there. Othere projects in the Netherlands are in Groningen (Lewenborg) and Heerenveen (Kennedylaan). More ecocathedrals are build in Germany (Weimar, Oberhausen), France, Spain, Belgium etc.

This is not a design in the traditional word, because an ecocathedral is made without any plan, but it is developed in time. Depending on the material that is brought to the place, Le Roy and his students create massive buildings, using their own creative energy.

It is social, because everybody can coöperate with this process to build his/her own public space. It is free, because the bricks and tiles cannot be used anymore in traditional (economic) projects, and the people who work there are not getting paid.

Louis Le Roy, who invented the ecocathedral in the 70s, and wrote "Nature switched off, Nature switched on" also in the 70's, founded the Time Foundation to make sure that his work will continue in the next generations. It is a 'timeless way of building', an eternal process in time and space. The Time Foundation believes that 1% of all citys and villages in the world should have an 'ecocathedral' destination, so that people can use their creative potential without any economic restrictions. The (public) space that belongs to the economic system realy needs a symbiotic relation with such 'ecocathedrals' to survive on the long term. There is no sustainable future for mankind if people can only rely on economic systems. There is only one sustainable form of energy, that is free (human) energy.
